I don't want to offer free entry to my Prize Draw. Can I remove this?

No. To comply with UK gambling legislation, a free postal entry option must remain for any Prize Draw (Online Raffle).

This free entry option is clearly displayed on your shop and event pages wherever Prize Draw tickets are sold.

Offering a free entry route is a requirement set by the Gambling Commission. It is what differentiates a Prize Draw from a raffle. By providing a genuine free entry option and meeting the criteria below, the Prize Draw is not classified as gambling.

If you run a Prize Draw with both free and paid entry routes, you must ensure that:

  • Participants can choose to enter without paying

  • The free entry route is no more expensive and no less convenient than the paid route

  • The free entry route is available under the same conditions as the paid route

    • For example, you cannot require Special Delivery for free entries while allowing First Class post for paid entries

  • The free entry route is promoted and displayed as prominently as the paid entry route

  • The choice between free and paid entry is clearly communicated so participants can easily see both options

  • The system that determines winners does not distinguish between free and paid entries

Our platform manages all of these requirements for you. As a result, the Free Prize Draw is not subject to gambling regulation and is fully compliant with both Gambling Commission guidance and the ASA’s CAP Code.
