Starting from last year's figures is usually quicker than starting from nothing.
How do I copy a budget?
- Go to Finances > Budgets
- Choose the year you want to set up at the top of the page
- Open the Manage menu and choose Copy Last Year's Budget
- Change anything that needs changing, then Save
You are told how many figures were copied and from which year.
Will it overwrite what I have already typed?
No. Copying only ever adds. Any category that already has a figure this year is left exactly as it is, so it is safe to use even if you have made a start, and pressing it twice does nothing the second time.
Why is the option not there?
- There is no earlier financial year to copy from.
- The year you are looking at has been closed, so its budget is fixed.
Why did it say nothing was copied?
Either last year had no budget, or everything in it is already budgeted this year.
