Both PTA Events & Stripe take fraud very seriously and therefore we’ve created an Early Fraud Warning report based on information available in Stripe.
An "Early Fraud Warning" (EFW) in Stripe indicates that a card issuer has flagged a payment as potentially fraudulent, before a formal chargeback is filed, and Stripe notifies you of this potential issue via email and your Stripe dashboard.
Chargebacks are expensive and damage the reputation of you the "merchant" in the eyes of the card networks (Visa and Mastercard). A damaged reputation may lead to account closure because you are considered "high risk".
While EFWs don’t automatically require action, Stripe suggests reviewing the payment and considering a refund to prevent a potential dispute.
Head to "Reports" > "Early Fraud Warnings" to view the report, which contains the Charge ID, Order ID, Customer ID, Customer Name and Customer Email:
