Can I capture information once about an order rather than for each item ordered?

Asking questions for an order makes sense when just selling individual products in a normal online shop. However, the PTA Events platform revolves around events, and therefore it's more logical to enable you to add questions per event. Capturing information only once per order is only applicable when you don't need to know details of each individual item ordered.

You'll need to add an event question product to an event, and then if you want to capture more information about the order, you would need to add product questions to it as you normally would.

Browse to "Admin" > "Events" and select "Tickets/Products" from the "Manage" menu of the relevant event. Then select "Add Product" from the "Manage" menu:

Then enter a name, a SKU (if you don't enter a SKU, we will generate one automatically for you), and then select type "Event Questions":

Unlike normal product questions, event questions only get asked once during the checkout process if the customer purchases any item from that event. The event questions product is also not visible in the shop and is added to the basket behind the scenes. Your event questions product should just have "Ask name & class" checked in it's product settings, the price should be zero and ensure you have a high stock quantity available.

You can use an event questions product without any questions, For example, you may want to sell tea towels that aren't personalised but only want to know the name of the eldest child in the school who should receive delivery of them to take them home. In this case ensure you change the "Booking Label" to "Eldest child's name":

You could have event question defined for each different/event product group that you have on sale to ensure you capture all the information you need.
