Yes it's possible to preview your products before they go on sale to your customers. Your products must all be set to display but the preview event page will show all products regardless of the dates they are scheduled to be on sale.
To preview an event, click the "Preview" link in the event management menu “Admin” > “Events” > “Manage” > "Preview":
A new window will open so you can preview your event:
You can then continue through the checkout process and ensure all of your product questions are configured correctly. You can also complete any orders either as tests or live orders.
